Holiday!

Hope everyone had a great holiday! We had a very blessed Christmas.

Just prior to Christmas I picked up this yummy set of fabrics. I felt a little guilty buying Valentine-ish fabrics prior to Christmas, but they were irresistable.

I will be taking a break from blogging/sewing for the next week...my holiday! I am working on some GREAT projects though that I am very excited to post soon!

Machine "Tied" Quilt?

Has anyone ever "tied" a quilt by machine? If so, is it difficult? I'm thinking of doing that for my nephew's blanket... I need a quick way to wrap it up by Christmas. Any ideas?

Lots of projects in the mix...no new ones to post today but there will be soon so check back!

Enjoy this picture of a package under our tree. The little stocking is super cute!

Mass Production

The coaster sets are finished! I tied each set of 4 Christmas coasters with a little ribbon. They looked so cute like that I hated to hide them with wrapping so I just added cute little hang tags from Target to make them giftable. I hope all of my aunts like them! The coaster pattern is from bend-the-rules sewing, of course!

Even though I have so many projects still yet to finish before Christmas...I added another one today! My nephew LOVES Star Wars and I found some Star Wars fabric on clearance today. I could not resist - I have to make a blanket. Saturday is going to be a sewing marathon.

Dots are so fun

...and who could resist that little bow?

I just put the finishing touches on this Charming Handbag and No Cash Wallet and I love it! (patterns from bend-the-rules sewing by Amy Karol, Potter Crafts...BTW, if you don't have this book GO GET IT!!!) I bought this fabric a long time ago because it reminded me of my friend CS. When I saw Amy's pattern for the Charming Handbag that also reminded me of CS; therefore, it was destiny that the fabric become this cute little bag for CS. The ribbon is actually meant to be used as scrapbooking ribbon which I have also had for a long time. As you can see there is a trend here...when I see a fabric/notion that I like I snatch it up right away. I'm addicted to fabric. But hey, you never know when inspiration will hit and when it does you will have the perfect fabric for your project sitting right in your sewing room.

It's (for) A Girl!

One of my former co-workers and her husband just had their first baby! I went to meet the new little one at the hospital and you can't go empty-handed! So, I jetted home and whipped up this cute little bib (pattern from Amy Karol's bend-the-rules sewing, Potter Craft). It was sew cute! The little snap is one of the pearlized snaps from Dritz...love it!

Sorry, the pictures are not the greatest...perhaps my darling husband will get me a camera for Christmas (hint, hint).

The pressure is on....only 8 more days and so many projects yet to finish for Christmas!

Welcome!

So...

My grandmother taught me how to sew when I was about 9 years old. My first sewing lesson was a 9-patch quilt for Barbie's bedroom. Then we made pillows...attemped Barbie clothes...more 9-patch items...pincushions...you name it. Quilts & sewing have always been in my life. Both of my grandmothers sewed...my mom sewed...so it was natural that I would enjoy sewing. However, after all the cool stuff I made for Barbie...the sewing kinda stopped.

Then...I inherited my grandmother's sewing machine after she passed away. When I sat down at her machine again it felt as if it were the first time. My sewing passion...or addiction...returned.

So today I am now a Stiching Surgeon. Literally.

I try to do a little sewing daily and I plan to share that with you here.

So visit again...see what is to come.
